Jackie: Welcome back to Campus Conspiracies, a podcast where we unearth NYUAD’s darkest secrets and craziest gossip. Last week, we sat down with Coach Huw to discuss the athletic department’s underground money laundering ring. I’m joined today by an extra special guest, Aysha Salma, a student in Communication Labs. Now Aysha, you’ve got a truly crazy story for us today, is that right?
Aysha: Yes, that’s right.
Jackie: Can you tell us what that is?
Aysha: Well, I - I mean… there’s no other way to put it.
[Laughter]
I’m still in disbelief. But I checked Brightspace last night and discovered that I got an A on the Comm Labs assignment.
Jackie: To clarify, you got an A in Professor Mansor’s Communication Labs class?
Aysha: Correct.
Someone on coms with static: Can we fact check that?
Jackie: Just when I thought I’d seen everything. Now, Aysha, the question everyone’s asking: how did you do it?
Aysha: First, of course, I’d have to thank my family, my friends, my life coach, and the campus cats - they all believed in me. Growing up humbly, I never saw myself getting an A in Communication Labs. But my story shows that with the right support and a lot of late nights, you can really do anything.
Jackie: That’s really touching, but it couldn’t have been just late nights. So many Comm Labs students seek extreme solutions to their problems. I myself converted religions to see which deity gives the best grades.
Aysha: Are you implying I was helped by an otherworldly force? Like a ghost?
Jackie: We’ve seen crazier things on this show. But if it wasn’t a divine force, how did you navigate the assignment parameters? I got a C+ last time for improperly capitalizing a subsubsection on the project report.
Aysha: Well, Jackie, that’s a grave transgression. Honestly, a C+ was very generous of her.
Jackie: Maybe that’s true, but it does seem a bit unfair.
Aysha: That’s exactly why I was nervous to come up here today. When you’re an A student, there’s always a target on your back. I feel unsafe coming into class sometimes. I know how people talk about me.
Jackie: [Murmurs]
Aysha: But my family told me it was my duty to come here and share my story.
Jackie: Thank you, Aysha, for sharing your truth.
